One of the best campgrounds we have stayed at during our 3 month travel through NZ!
Although you can easily see that the facilities are not brand-new you have everything you need for an awesome time: a clean and well-equipped kitchen, clean facilities, fairly priced laundry, a bbq etc. Having a 1-year-old baby there are even advantages: a big lawn with toys and a boat, short walk to the sea, etc. On top of that there is a great cafe pretty close by :) Our absolute favorite so far!!

Great non-commercialised caves!
Adventurous, unique and overall wonderful glowworm experience (with baby is carrier). Simply great!

Unique experience and scenery!
Somehow though the city itself was way more fascinating. And the Lady Knox Geyser (with soap!) was more show-off than 'natural' attraction.

Walk very good but shuttle service from/to Taupo okay (first departure only at 3pm).
If you are used to the Alps - volcanic scenery has difficulties to compare. Although the track was great.

Amazing track which provides you with awesome views - better than Pelorus or Queen Charlotte!

You get what you pay for, old campervan (2005 - 271000kms) and heavily used.
On the other hand the car is in ok shape and price is good. However a bit more thought on interior setup (e.g. nets to store stuff etc) would be appreciated.

It was nice, because the weather was good but overall we would recommend to visit one of the restaurants - then you do not need to pay for entrance, and only for food and drinks.
