2.5/5
Although the staff were friendly, and this place has quirky charm, it is not worth the hype.
We were going to stay there 3 nights and ended up staying only one. First the place was full of teenagers. They overtook the kitchen, which had multiple stoves with no gas, and left a mess everywhere. But the worse reason was the sandflies. We had stayed in many locations prior and barely noticed them, but here we were absolutely attacked. We awoke early in the morning just to leave the site since we couldn't cook without them flying into our food. Opinion - stay up the road around Te Anau. This place is not worth it at all.
