Well prepared park where you can find a lot of different types of volcanic activity.
A bit pricey at $32. The loop takes about 2 hours. Anyway if you never get to see volcanic activity then it is worth it.

If you are in Rotorua, you should visit.
But just to go to Rotorua for that it would not be recommended. There are several walks through the forest, all well marked. The Redwoods are nice, but for my taste all too artificial.

Easy to see and observe them.

We first made our way up through the riverbed and for the way back we looped over the mountain shoulder. About 1.5 hours, worth itl.

First 3.2km are mainly in bushland but after this you get some nice views.
