Update to previous reviews - the bathroom facilities were modern and thus must have received an upgrade.
The site is far from cheap costing my 2+2 family just under $70 for one night in a powered motorhome site. Location is good but site looks tatty. All the grass is dead leaving lots of straw to constantly sweep out. Kids enjoyed bouncing pillow.

Hell bent on spending a night off the grid in the New Zealand wilderness we came here in a 6 berth motor home.
No trouble accessing the area. We drove through the boat ramp carpark and up to the higher gravel area to park so views were not to be had but we got a nice level ground in the middle. Quite busy with smaller groups by nightfall. Walk to the lookout offers a stunning view. We built a small fire which the kids loved. Toilet even ok for a long drop. One of our most favourite nights on this trip.
