A lovely tranquil parking spot on the end of the Peninsula, right next to the park, foreshore, an old Maori Pa Site and loaded mandarin trees!
Toilets close by. One camper the day we visited.

We camped here for two nights whilst cycling The Clutha Gold Trail in November.
The new owners couldn't be more welcoming or helpful. They also operate a shuttle service which we took advantage of one day. The campground was a tranquil haven at the end of each days cycling with lovely grounds and good hot showers. Just across the bridge (walking distance) is a pub / cafe for a meal or coffee. Would definitely recommend.
We really enjoyed having you as guests, it was great being able to offer the shuttle service that enabled you to fit in a few extra things on your holiday, we would love to see you again when you are in next in Central Otago.

A large campground right on the Waikato River Trail.
We stayed in this lovely treed spot on the river's edge for two nights while we cycled to the north and south on the bike trail. There were several other campers when we stayed in April.

Follow the signs at the end of Captain Cook Road, passed the boat ramp, to a tranquil parking place on grass, on the edge of the estuary.
Room for 4-5 campers between the signs. There were four campers both nights when we stayed in the first week of May.

Great view over the harbour.
Sandy beach close by and ocean beach just across the road. Lovely walk along the harbour edge to the entrance, as well as walks up Paku Hill, and back into Tairua town. There is room for 4-5 campers and it was full the night we stayed in May.

Spacious campsite surrounded by beautiful forest.
We had kakas swooping overhead early evening! Several sites had picnic tables and fireplaces. There was a rubbish bin and tap water was available. The campsite is just down the road from the start of the Timber Trail which we cycled with the use of local shuttles. There are also some great walking tracks nearby. There was only one other camper here when we stayed in April.

Good sized camping area by the river.
Children were having fun jumping off the jetty and swimming in the river. There is a great walking track from here over to Arapuni Dam, 2-3 hours return. There have always been other campers here the few times we've stayed.

Great spot on the harbour edge with wharf nearby and views across to Pauanui.
Grass reserve and picnic tables in front of parking place. Toilets close by. Lovely 10 minute walking path along the waters edge to the town centre and beyond if you wish. Just two spaces, but no one else there when we overnighted in May.

A lovely campsite setting with grassed areas amongst the trees.
Rubbish bins on site. Stream close by but there is a great swimming hole down the road five kms at Hoffmans Pool. Several hiking options right from the campsite including the well graded track to the Cookson Kauri. Only a few other campers the two nights we stayed in February.

Very scenic beach. Good coastal walk south to three more beautiful beaches from the top car park further along the road.

Very tranquil spot when we camped there in December.
