Fabulous site.
Quiet, probably due to the very long drive down a gravel road, but for the more adventurous driving an 8m van to a stunning spot at the end. Clean toilets and refreshing cold showers, and access to an unspoilt beach for as far as I could see. Very friendly ranger and other campers.

Nice spot not far from the lighthouse for a day trip.
Toilets just down the beach definitely far nicer. Site got very crowded, with vehicles rocking up at all times and squeezing in the site. Most left early to avoid paying their fees, come on people don't be cheap at great DOC sites, bad karma dudes!

Trounson Kauri Park Campground

Compared to the other DOC sites we've been to, very disappointing.
Toilets and shower were unusable, absolutely disgusting. Kitchen very basic, but it was a cheap site with power. The sites were not big enough for 8m vans, so we took up 2 spaces, not a problem as it was empty and it was just a stopover.

Great spot, quiet and relaxing.
Showers OK, big cubicles but you need a token. Views were fantastic and the largest fig tree.

Very well organised, staff very helpful, great common room, good kitchen facilities, great showers, nice fish and chip shop close by and really easy access to 90 Mile Beach.
