We booked a flight with Air Kaikoura to see whales in Kaikoura.
They cannot guarantee 100% that you will see them. Unfortunately, we did not see any. They do not 'have to', but they gave us a second flight (free) as a second chance. Finally, we saw whales and dolphins. We really recommend Air Kaikoura! Is an awesome experience!

The Rob Roy Glacier track is a short walk (3 hours return) that gives you a nice idea about how beautiful the park is and a very nice view of the Rob Roy Glacier.
We really recommend it!

At the end of the road from Glenorchy, there is a campground (low cost), in front of Lake Wakatipu where you have toilets, you can make a fire and there are amazing views!
We really loved spending two relaxing days here after the final rugby world cup game!

We spent a week in Kaikoura and it is a good place to relax and enjoy the beach.
But we really recommend to spend one day to go up the Mt Fyffe. A sunny and clear day. The views are amazing and worth it, although it is hard walking up.

If you cannot do the Routeburn Track, we really recommend the short walk to arrive to the very top of the summit.
There is an amazing lookout of the mountains in 360 degrees!
