The campground is not far from the lake and you can dig your hot pool there...
Camping pitch was a bit small and we bothered our neighbors who had a van and a tent. Kitchen too small for all users but toilet and showers good and clean. We paid $48 for a powered site for two.

Nicely decorated, funny little cabins, but kitchen very small and showers/toilet a bit odd.

Close to the beach and you can go and collect mussels.
There are a lot of residents. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Pitch was big for $30 for a powered site. We stayed there after Christmas. Shower and kitchen a bit worn out.

Lovely campground next to the sea and toilets are well maintained.
There is an upper and lower level where you can park. The caretaker is very friendly and we paid $5 too.

Great space and very quiet.
Most other campgrounds were full thus we were surprised that no one parked at this parking space. We spent Christmas Eve here and enjoyed the beach and view. Toilet was clean. When we woke up at 7am it was very busy with surfers but fun to watch them!

We spent one night here at the end of December and had a small space for our van, powered for two cost us $42.
The location is great but there is nothing around, no shops, no restaurants in walking distance. But we didn't have to pay for the shower and it was good and hot. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Nice campground and owner, kitchen was well maintained.
Reefton with little restaurants and coffee shops is within walking distance. Unfortunately ladies washrooms were closed because of maintenance but it was quiet, no trouble to use the mens facilities. Cost us $25 for an unpowered site.

This was the most beautiful space for freedom camping!
It is part of a parking lot and close to the ocean. You can sit on the benches and watch the sunrise! There is a toilet close to the bike rental within walking distance. Good thing is, you can go to the Ocean Spa or even to the i-site and take a shower for a small fee.

Great location, superb showers and toilets.
And the laundry was one of the best I have seen during the trip. Size of the pitch is quite small and it was busy. You are very close to your neighbour. We paid $46 for a powered site for two.

We were attacked by sandflies and the toilet and showers were dirty.
There was a huge bus with lots of tourists in tents. The kitchen was old and dirty too.. we didn't like it at all. It cost us $12.50.

We spent a night in December and found it very clean, directly on the beach, it cost $12.50 for two.
Was definitely worth the drive out of Blenheim!

Would not go there again.
We spent one night in December. It was quiet thus the ladies showers and toilet were closed and using the men's was no fun. And it's definitely overpriced! We spent over $50 NZD for two! Kitchen facilities old. Fun thing was the cockatoo and the good nearby restaurant, good food and nice service!
Sven, sorry you did not enjoy your stay...ladies toilets would have been closed as they were being painted and others were open just round the building (near the mens). (next time I will make sure that adequate signage is in place). All the restaurants in Mapua are very good and I am glad you had a good meal, including the one here in the Park itself.. Joey loves the company when we are busy. I do hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday.

The location is great, we had a pitch near the beach, the pitch was big for a tent and a car but our neighbour thought he could use our space, not nice.
But for one night we didn't bother. There is a hiking trail to the Mount Maunganui (worth to walk up!!) close by. Toilet and showers were clean. Kitchen huge with all you need. We paid $63 for a powered site, high season, it was Christmas.

This place is great and the owner super friendly!
We paid $23 for two at a powered site and had a nice space close to the beach. But the campground was very crowded with many young people working as fruit pickers. Toilet and showers are dirty and very busy. Laundry was a hustle because only two washing machines and one dryer is not enough and the residents complained. But we had a great lunch at Clearview Winery which is within walking distance.

Beautiful campground, not very big but right in the bay, the owner very friendly and helpful, the kitchen offers all what you need and is comfy!
Showers/toilet very clean.

Easy going site.
The owner wasn't there when we arrived and we could choose our space. We paid $33 for a powered site. Kitchen was good but one hot shower and the other two cold water only. The WiFi from the Tairua Library is for free and worked well.
