This is a busy site with lots of people having first and last nights.
However it is very well organised. We particularly liked the drive through check-in for camper vans and the family of ducks that arrived at 10am as if clocking in for work. People came offering half cartons of orange juice etc because they were leaving - a nice vibe. Across the road at Caltex you can top up your gas and fill up with fuel and get a combined receipt for your hiring company. A great site to end/begin.

This is a spacious park with good facilities for BBQ and cooking.
We found that laundry and shower facilities were under a lot of pressure but they were smart and clean - NB you need detergent to put in the washing machines. The welcome was friendly and helpful.

The campsite is exquisitely small with central play area for children and direct access to the beach.
Extremely helpful and well informed owners - founts of local knowledge - thanks to their advice we saw the Yellow Eyed Penguins and were aware of tide times
A tiny bit of train noise at night - good coffee and food nearby. Fleur's Place 5 km away.

A nice open aspect and very much in the centre of things - lots of eating places nearby and you can walk to see glow worms - it's a bit of a trek to the glacier though - best to drive.
Good site facilities although annoying that hot tub is priced for 4.
Thank you Glinys for your review. I'm glad you got to go and see the glow worms while you were there. Great to hear you enjoyed your stay.

The owners are fantastic and went out of their way to be helpful.
We arrived without our camper van because it was undergoing emergency repairs. We were accommodated in a cabin and very nice it was too - clean and spacious although we did have to buy a sieve at the nearby supermarket in order to be able to make fresh coffee. The camping site is beside a very pretty river and although there is road noise it's barely noticeable. Eating places are close by and the wine tour will collect you from the site and literally drive you to drink!

This park is off the beaten track in a stunning location above the lake - magnificent views.
The facilities are basic but OK.

Great location and efficient management - you can walk to restaurants and supermarkets.
Excursions pick up directly from the site. Good communal facilities and helpful staff. The hot tubs are wonderful and good value.

This camp site is the best - you can even buy fresh eggs and home baked bread.
The toilet facilities are second to none and even have vases of fresh flowers. A goat and chickens are neighbours and you wake up to the sound of bellbirds and tui. You can walk to see glow worms and a fine waterfall straight from the camp and if you don't want to cook then Jacksons Tavern is within walking distance but go early as they stop food at 2030.
Hi Glinys, we're pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Jackson's Retreat & Holiday Park, we hope the rest of your holiday was enjoyable and we wish you all the best, regards Toni

Fantastic organisation, and efficient and good value for money.
Kerry runs a tight ship and she is also an excellent tour guide. The combination of her knowledge of the Marlborough wine business, her humour, and enthusiasm make a recipe for success. We opted for the whole day tour with lunch at Allan Scott - we saw a good variety of vineyards including St Clair where the option of a Devonshire tea was welcomed by those who were 'tasted out'. A perfect day.
