This is my pick of the thermal pools in Rotorua.
It has the coolest walk to a boiling pool which is like a cauldron straight from the middle of the earth, totally amazing. The pools are clean, and lots of different ones to choose from. There is an adults pool too, which makes it nice to relax without kids bouncing balls off your head. Totally worth the drive to get there, about 20 minutes south of Rotorua.

This place rocks!
The staff are fun and made the ride really entertaining right from the briefing and throughout the ride. The scenery is amazing with loads of different views over the lakes and farmland. We rode through hundreds of cattle which was a total buzz. Our guide also brought a miniature horse along with us, which ran beside us like a dog! Our horses were really well behaved and all the gear was in good nick. Totally recommend this place for your horse riding in New Zealand.

Nowhere else in the world can you get this close to a lion cub, and it is such a buzz to play with Ella, the new little one, and get your photo with her.
Totally worth the effort to get out there, heaps of other stuff to do out there in Paradise Valley too.
