My husband and I arrived at Oamaru Top 10 at dusk, about 8:30pm, which we thought was absolutely fine.
there was no-one at the office but there was a note on the window which said "if you arrive late, just take a spot and pay in the morning". We didn't have a tent or campervan, we needed a room. There was a bell that my husband rung and a lady came up behind us and my husband said "sorry to bother you, but we are in need of a room for the night", he is always very polite. The lady was absolutely so rude and mannerless! She was mad that we arrived at that time, which we had never experienced before. We had arrived late at other places before and had never experienced such rudeness from anyone. There was a spa there which closed at 9pm but didn't even want to ask as she had alreay bit my husbands head off. If you want to run a business where you have to work with the public, being absolutely rude to guests is NOT a good if you want to make a living! She was obviously not a people person so I have no idea why she would want to run a camping ground. The room was ok, the amentities were good. Disappointed that she made us feel like we couldn't ask to use the spa though. I wouldn't recommend Oamaru Top 10 and won't ever be staying there again.

My husband and I and arrived at this camping ground and were absolutely blown away!
So peaceful and such beautiful surroundings. The owners were so lovely. They gave us a generous discount the first night in a chalet. It was really comfortable and cosy to stay in. There is a river that runs along beside the camping ground which you can hear from the chalet we stayed in, we slept so well being able to hear the water flowing all night long. We liked it so much, we stayed another night. Absolutely beautiful surroundings and the owners totally went out of their way for us and made us feel so comfortable and welcome. It's a great place to stay if you want to get away from it all. Also a great place to take kids and the best thing is that you have to drive 5 minutes up the road to get a phone signal, so it is literally a great place if you want to get away/get your kids away from cell-phones and the internet. We are looking forward to staying there again in the near future.
