It is the carpark within the shopping area of Montgomery Square at Nelson.
It is suitable for self-contained motorhome as there is only a public toilet available. The area is pretty quiet in the evening after the shops are closed. However, there are still some food outlets nearby. Fast food & supermarket within walking distance if you are willing to explore a bit further. Reasonably safe and peaceful place to stop for a night.

French Farm campsite is a free camping ground with view of the lake to offer.
There is a public toilet and dump station nearby. Self-contained is advisable as the location is rather far from the town. Overall, it is a nice & peaceful place to put up for a night.

This area is actually the parking to the reserve.
Only 12 lots are available. There is a small picnic ground and public toilet. Good stopover between Kaikoura and Picton. So, the lots are taken up very fast in the late afternoon/early evening. Pleasant view of farm land with sheep & cow across the car park.

Value for money.
Smooth, hassle-free check-in for powered camp site. Upkeep of facilities is good despite the occupancy rate is high. Good effort of the crews!
Check out the shower facility, it is interesting! Remember to press the button before entering the shower room. You are given 8 mins to shower.
The park is within walking distance to the town. Take a good walk to town if weather permits.

We checked in for a night for its power-site.
Rapahoe Bay Holiday Park is located enroute from Punakaiki Pancake Rock towards Greymouth. A cosy small holiday park very near to the beach. It has most of the essential facilities of a holiday park - eg. electricity, water, dump station, shower, kitchen, laundry. But a little patience is needed as some of the facilities are not in good working condition, so you need to wait for the one or two good one. For example, there are a few washing machines and dryers in the laundry room. But effectively only one to two of the machines are working. So we have to wait for our turn.
Beware of flies (maybe sand flies) if you park near the beach. We were bitten by the flies rather badly.
For a camp which only has 30 or so sites I would have thought 3 washing machines, one brand new and two dryers, one for light clothes and a heavier one would have been more than sufficient. Did you tell the proprietor things were not working ? because we have received not one complaint in the past three months. Someone had ripped off one of the lids of the washers, had to find out ourselves, nobody said a word, the lighter dryer has been jammed with something in last couple of days, but not word from campers, this was not a month ago. We cannot fix things if we don't know they are broken, I think this person was disorganised possibly did not like having to wait their turn - we would need a washer and dryer per site to satisfy them. Sandflies are our fault ! Now really that is beyond a joke - they bite everywhere not just at the beach and are usually a sign of impending rain.- every sensible camper carries repellent for any eventuality (and lotion for any areas that do get bitten) This applies for the entire world - if you are living in the outdoors prepare for it !

Klondyke Corner is a rather big open space next to the main road.
Only suitable for self-contained motorhome. There is only a toilet with no water supply. Some campers get water from the river nearby. Not too bad a place to spend a night if not for the flies. Hopefully it is because of the summer weather.

We booked a 4-man motorhome from Jucy online for pick-up at Christchurch.
Everything went on well including the shuttle transfer from Airport. The hiccup came when we had to wait almost 2-3 hours in the queue to pick up the vehicle at the depot office despite we had provided all relevant information online.
During the trip, we encountered "surprises" from the onboard facilities almost every other day. We just share some here. We were travelling with a fridge which was not cold unless we put packs of ice cubes in to boost it up. A toilet door which could not be opened.
We wondered if the vehicle had been well checked before the next customer pick up. Hopefully the company will review its customer service quality seriously.
Hi there,
I am terribly sorry to read about the issues you on your recent JUCY experience. If you can please email lucy@jucyworld.com with your booking number and further details I will look into this immediately.
Regards,
Lucy

It is a wonderful free campground in Kaikoura with good number of parking lots, water supply at every lot and pleasant farm view.
The location is quiet, peaceful and not too far away from the town center. Thanks to the kindness of the owner of the place.

Little River Campground is a small cosy eco-holiday park.
Take note there is no dump station available here. Only shower, toilets & kitchen. Powered sites only supply power no water point (unlike powered site of some holiday park). The park is rather far away from the main road.
The Manaia Native Habitat is just across a small river. If you have some time to kill in the day, you may want to explore it.
Hi Singapore Sling,
Thanks for your review of our campground. We were disappointed you only scored us 5/10 though. We thought being off the main road is a positive, as there is less noise and traffic and pollution. We also state we have no dump station, as we are an eco campground we compost waste, but can not allow any chemicals from campervans in it. We also highly recommend a walk through our native habitat as this is why we live here, and it is very rare in this part of NZ. Check out is at 12, so everyone should have plenty of time to explore. Thanks Marcus and Megan.
