The weather forecast was very bad and the guy in the office pointed one walk where the rain would not be that bad. Had a great four hour walk without rain.

Walk the first 2 hours of the Routeburn track and you get to a beautiful spot at a sparkling ice blue river.
Track leads through the forest. Easy walking and nice views.
