The walk to the Glacier viewing point is well worth doing.
There are waterfalls to see on the way, the river running through the valley has chunks of ice which have come off the Glacier giving a feeling of close proximity to the Glacier. The whole place gives you a sense of the power and wonder of nature.

This is a fantastic museum, not only because of the displays, interactive and real, but because of the way the museum incorporates new buildings with the old Victorian and a 1930s bus station.

Valley walk - this was a waste of money.
Apart from a short walk through rainforest on a path not open to the public, the walk to the glacier was on a DOC path with some geological information provided by a guide.

We went on a cruise to Stewart Island with a nature walk, a daytime cruise on Doubtful Sound and a cruise on Milford Sound.
Each activity was punctual, professionally done with well informed guides. Value for money although not cheap.

We did the swing bridge and loop walk.
It was good value. The swing bridge walk is exciting and gives a good view of the gorge, and the loop walk provides interesting information about earlier earthquake activity, floods, and gold mining history.

Despite being booking 9 months in advance, the van we hired was tired and worn, although mechanically sound.
The house battery could not hold a charge for longer than 8 hours. Britz sent us to three different towns in an attempt to get a replacement. This was over two days. As a consequence of the battery failure we were forced to use caravan parks.

This is one of many walks in and around Stewart Island.
The track was well maintained, the views from the beaches were beautiful. I would like to do more walking on Stewart Island itself.
