Friendly, tidy, polite, lovely, very Japanese.
Outdoor pools AUTHENTIC hot pools. Not chlorinated but real natural springs. Japanese bath house a lovely bonus.

Lots of the track was washed out, but we managed to get to the foot of the glacier.
It is now recommended only to do guided tours top here which makes it expensive. We did it on our own and enjoyed it.
