After a long day tramping this stop was a blessing with its complimentary natural thermal pools.
Spotlessly clean, friendly and helpful staff and beautiful waterside location in a quiet retirement town. We paid $21 per adult for a powered site, which was comparatively dearer than other options but the hot pools alone are worth it. They close the pools at 730 pm for cleaning.

We stayed here to be near the start of the Routeburn.
It scores only for the beautiful setting. The sites were boggy and uneven and not pretty. The toilet was a filthy long drop ammonia plant. We were told we could get a shower at the nearby lodge for $5 each, and found that the price had increased to $10. The lodge attendant was reluctant and rude and the showers in poor condition.
