This is the perfect example of you get what you pay for.
$45 for top 10 members for a powered campervan site with a fabulous view. Bathrooms and showers showing their age but everything works well and are clean. One of the owners stopped to talk and was so friendly. Great advice on local sites and a nearby golf course. And that their water is spring fed and the best of quality.
It's lovely to hear from a guest that appreciates quality :) Come back any time!

We stayed here two nights and loved it.
Quiet and ever changing views. Monotonous Beauteous.

We rented a Luxury Fiat Prestige Campervan built in Italy.
I'll start with why we chose Walkabout. A friend rented from them a year ago and had a positive experience. We liked that their vans were new, diesel and agile for the NZ roads. And that diesel tax was included in the rental and that their prices were good value. Other than that our experience was not desirable. Before we left Canada my emails to Walkabout would go unanswered for up to two weeks. And if I hadn't sent a follow up asking why I was not getting a response I likely would never have heard. At one point I sent a sharp email complaining about the service and reminding them of the amount of money we are spending (60 day rental) and that it is complicated planning a trip halfway around the world. I got a reply the same day saying they didn't like my tone. On a positive note, when we had trouble with the van the owner (Shane) was always easily reachable by phone. However he often tried to convince us that our trouble was operator error. Which for the most part it wasn't. The fridge that took forever to light and in the end would not light. And the fridge door that would not remain locked so imaging how many spills that happened travelling the twisty NZ roads before we wisely bandaged it shut for travel. The cable on the satellite TV dish that wouldn't allow it to rotate properly. The water heating system that wouldn't heat water. It was a faulty window safety switch that I repaired with a piece of cardboard to make a connection. At one point I had a conversation with the owner about dropping into their repair centre in Silverdale north of Auckland. He said he would send me the contact info and some information on the best beaches nearby which never happened. Minus the problems noted this is a nice, self contained luxury vehicle.

When you find a spot almost full up with local NZ travellers you know it's good.
Friendly campers willing to lend a hand with my dodgy satellite roof wires.
