More than enough seals for everyone and their mother.
If you want to get a close look at these creatures - this is the place to be. Just be mindful of your step, some of those seals take quite long naps.

A large mud pool.
This is exactly what you can expect. Nothing more nothing less.

Not exactly my cup of tea but the missus seemed to enjoy it.
The water had chunks of black goo in it even though the water seemed pretty clean. Expect a crowd, and a big one at that. We had to slither our way though a lot of people before finding a spot to cook in for a while.
Still a nice and unique experience.

She tried though.

Superb facilities.
The kitchen was clean and the shower was hot. But kind of on the expensive side. $19 per person for an unpowered site. When I asked the lady for another wifi voucher (they give you 30 minutes for free) because there were two of us, she flat out refused. And the washing machine and dryer were 4 buckaroos a cycle.
Thanks for your review Ahmed Mohsen Aly! What a wonderful word 'Superb' is- Thankyou!! Sorry you felt we were expensive, at $20 per person we are the cheapest in town so feel we are fairly priced for this competitive market. The Wifi voucher on arrival is a complimentary gesture, we have very reasonable prices should you wish to purchase more.

Crowded and smelly.
The atmosphere didn't help either. The only thing this place has got going on for it is its location.

Just a bunch of birds doing bird stuff.
Alright views, spotted a view of those fancy birds wearing a tuxedo.

The walk to the Glacier was more interesting than the attraction itself.
When we started our walk it was hot and sunny. Half an hour into our walk it started pouring. So be prepared and don't let the sunshine fool you.

An amazing walk with intermittent beautiful views along the way.
We did this early in the morning so there weren't that many people.

Shorter walk than at Franz Josef.
The track gets pretty steep the last half kilometre. The Glacier was nicer than Josef.

Seeing Auckland city centre from a distance was much nicer than actually being in the city centre. Free parking.

And DO NOT GO OFF TRACK. We did and we regretted it.

A solid 10.
The motor-camp was well maintained and absolutely beautiful. The facilities were spotless with unlimited hot showers and the host, Tony, was amazingly helpful.
Be sure to call in advance if you're arriving late at night.
Many thanks for your lovely comments.

But the geyser was amazing. Especially considering we have never seen one before. Some nice mud pools and thermals along the route.

Quite a steep climb to the top but that's alright. We passed a few sheep making our way to the summit. You can see all kinds of kayakers and eco-friendly parachutists from the summit.

Very cheap.
The showers aren't included in the price and it's $2 for just 4 minutes. The warden didn't really bother with welcoming us. The most memorable thing about the place is the village itself honestly. The people are incredibly friendly!

We had an excellent stay at Aroha Island.
We arrived around midnight, the office and gate to the campsite were closed and we did not know how to get in. Fortunately there was a fellow camper outside the office instructing us to lift the chain from the gate and continue in. It was a bit confusing why they had a meaningless chain around the gate in the first place. We drove in and a guy greeted us in the morning and instructed us to pay at the office when we were ready to.
The campsite itself was excellent with beach access, nice facilities and friendly staff. $15 per person for an unpowered site.

We were greeted by a hoard of avian friends!
Ducks, roosters, finches ... I love birds so we played with them for a while before actually walking the track. The spring is absolutely stunning. The water was so clear and the redwoods were towering above us as we started our track. Would definitely recommend this short track.
