Loved this campsite!
It's a small one with online 4 spaces. Even in winter three out of four spots were taken. Overnight camping only at designated spots, they do check. The toilet is closeby (left hand side as you leave the parking) and very clean and convenient. Take a walk around the beach and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Absolutely loved it!
The views of Mount Cook and Lake Pukaki make up for the smelly longdrops at the entrance (there are two ways to enter this campsite, so if you can't find the toilets drive further down). We stayed on top of the hill to enjoy the sunset, the stars and the sunrise. The area close to the lake is usually very popular and busy. We've stayed for two nights but could've stayed for many more. Don't miss out on this one!

Nice grassy Area with 10 camper/tent spots.
Can get muddy when it rains so be careful. Flush toilets on site, which are pretty clean. Overall good spot close to Christchurch!

By far our favorite Freedom Camping.
Yes, it's a bit noisy due to the main road closeby but the stunning views make up for it. Also clean flush toilets on site. Don't miss out on this one!

Nice gravel campsite with droptoilets, which are clean and tidy.
Take your insect repellent because of the sandflies! It's next to a creek and close to the beach, so perfect to take a stroll.

Nice place.
You can camp out on the 12 parkingplaces on the left hand side as you enter the carpark (on the same side as the toilet block). The toilets are ok, not super clean. It's a popular spot for dog walkers, many cars coming and going. Dog poo doesn't always get picked up so watch where you walk in the grass. It's mainly quiet though, so perfect if you'd like to stay for one night.

Stayed here because it was too windy at Wairoa Reserve (for us the better option in this area).
This campsite is a good alternative. The flush toilets are well maintained, it's quiet even though it's in the middle of town. You can camp out on the grassy area. It can get a bit muddy but not too bad.

Public toilets are clean! It's close to an new build neighbourhoud but far enough to have some privacy.

It's a beautiful campsite with lots of space and a stunning view with a lake and mountains.
It becomes pitch dark at night, make sure to bring a headlight. The longdrop toilets are okay, good enough for a campsite in the middle of nowhere. The road to the campsite is full of holes so be careful.

Basic parking area with one longdrop toilet.
Even in winter it's busy, being the best Freedom Camping close to Taupo. Good enough for one night!
