Lovely little campsite only one of two sites we spent more than one night at in our two month trip.
Would recommend has everything you could need and right next to the beach, doesn't quite get a ten due to slightly outdated facilities. You more than get what you pay for however.

Worst night's sleep in just over 2 months in New Zealand, about 20 yards from a busy main road with traffic throughout the night.
Also $40 for a powered site for the evening (2 people) but with only 2 toilets for the entire campsite which meant long queues in the morning. For that much you shouldn't have to pay extra for showers, which ran out of hot water after only a couple of minutes. Only benefit of this campsite was the free WiFi.
We are sorry that you didnt enjoy your stay so much. We try hard to keep our facilities clean and welcoming, and as much as possible place our guests as far from the road as we can, normally it does quieten down overnight. During the period you stayed we have been busier / more popular than we expected which is possibly why you were placed close to the road. At times at peak times we are aware there can be queues; some guests do seem to take a long time. Which is why our shower timers are set at 5 minutes which the majority of our guests find long enough. The Hot water doesnt run out, its on a timer. Trust you enjoyed your stay in NZ

Lady at reception was lovely and really helpful.
Cooking facilities were good. Negatives were the residents (kids running around our camper at 9pm pressing their faces on the windows), got woken up at half 7 by someone with a "pimped" exhaust so bad it made the van vibrate, again we believe one of the resident's.
The facilities are dated, toilets without seats and wet floors etc, foosball table without a ball.
Tony and I have been working hard over the last 4 years to improve facilities at the camp, upgrading constantly. We pride ourselves on very clean amenities even though they are older. Foosball ball is available at the office as they are often lost by children or over nighters. Our few retiree residents are hand picked and very helpful to those that come to stay.Thank you for your comments, so we can make this camp even more enjoyable.

We spent the night here after coming down from Rotorua, we went on the reviews on here and picked the campsite based on that.
Initially we thought it was fine, we paid $36 for a powered site, and to be honest that's $30 too much. The chap at the desk tried to play possibly the world's worst practical joke on us which neither of us appreciated. There are loads of poultry running wild on the site, a novelty that quickly wears off when you try to move your camper without running over any chicks. Also loads of peacocks which woke me several times during the night. For $36 far too trashy facilities which again had bird poo on the floors!!!! I could go on but at least I guess the power worked.
