Such a great find!
Right on the water, a 5 minute walk to downtown. Facilities in good condition, nice owners. While sitting on the dock we watched the sun come up over the harbour and later enjoyed brekkie at Steam- we loved Oamaru!

Sweet little spot next to the lake, woke up to birds going fishing right next to our van.
Dump station across the road. Only one other car when we got there. Sky was perfectly clear at night. Road is pretty twisty to get there so drive carefully.

Almost don't want to share how amazing this site is but everyone should go and appreciate the gorgeousness of this place.
Happened upon this site because we needed to stretch, discovered towards the end of the dirt road a small pebble beach overlooking an unreal scene of snowcapped mountains surrounding the crispest lake you've ever seen. Came back a few hours later and the night sky was perfect and clear. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Got here late and left early so didn't meet the owner.
We stayed up on the bluff overnight and were treated to almost 360 degree views of the ocean the next morning, sadly it was stormy. No one else was there, very quiet. Seemed clean while driving through the grounds.

This review is only for the food at the cafe, which was sensational.
We split the roasted pumpkin soup with hot bread for dipping. Husband got the meat pie, I got the kumara veggie burger with a fried egg and caramelized onions. One of the best meals we've ever had, hands down. Go eat here even if you're just passing through!

Pricey ($40 for 2 people powered site) but you get a few of amenities for the cost: wifi, hot tub use, lounges with cable, etc.
Very clean and organized, many people were there. Almost on the lake but no lake view, easy short walk to city centre with restaurants and movie theatre.

Great spot to rest up before heading to the airport 5 minutes away.
We were in and out before the office opened so didn't get a chance to meet the owners but place was well kept and easy to navigate late at night so that was a plus.

Just got back from a 10 day trip in the South Island in a Wilderness campervan.
They were extremely helpful and professional, and the van itself was a blast. We got a little upgrade because we came in the off-season so had an even nicer van than we initially thought we would get. Bonnie in the Chc base camp was super helpful in getting us started. Highly recommend getting the Maximum Insurance pkg, as we had a small break within moments of driving away from base camp :( I will definitely be referring them to anyone else wanting to rent a campervan in NZ!
