We stayed 2 nights, the first one in a powered site and the second one in a self contained studio so we could clean our motorhome as our trip to NZ was finished.
Small sites. Very handy location as you do not have to get into town with the campervan, well connected by the bus to the city centre and close to the airport. Very friendly staff, leftover box and nice facilities.
Hi Maria
Thanks for the great feedback

Thanks for your review, our prices do change depending on the season, also with the increase of demand for the area we have increased our prices to stay competitive.

We stayed in August. Location, it's the only good thing about this place. We got there once it was dark, no indications to reach reception, no lights. Reception/shop was closed and a piece of paper with prices and a "map" of the area could hardly be seen, we used a torch. Honesty box. Disgusting shower, tiny kitchen & laundry room closed, I didn't dare to get in the bathroom. Really spooky. I guess that in summer months you get to see more people (we were the only motorhome / people staying) and the place might feel better.

We chose this place because of the good reviews and because we were heading to the West Coast, so we did not need to go into Hanmer Springs and it is the closest Holiday Park to the road.
We showed up when it was dark already. The place was pitch black. The owner told us where the kitchen and toilets were, but there were no lights and we did not use the facilities. It all looked very abandoned, spiderwebs in the plugs, no games room, muddy sites.... Maybe in the summer it is looked after, but not in August. Actually, it was a bit scary. $42, 2 adults & 2 children (7 & 3 years old) in a powered site. Stayed in August.

Great and beautiful place to stay for free if you have been (or going to enter) to Orakei Korako.
Located by a lake with great views of the geothermal activity. You must be self contained. We decided to stay after the visit as it was getting dark.

Beautiful location, sites surrounded by trees and bushes so the campervan is quite sheltered from the ice at night.
Wifi is very slow and only works in the kitchen. Close to the Taranaki Falls Track. Basic kitchen, didn't use toilets or showers. 2 adults & 2 children (7 & 3 years old) in a powered site. Stayed in July.
Hi Maria,
Regarding the wi-fi, yes it can be slow here and I understand the frustration experienced by yourself. Unfortunately this is the fastest internet service we can get in the Village at the moment. However, we are currently negotiating to get access to much faster broadband for future guests to enjoy. We value your feedback as it helps us make improvements that matter to our guests.
Best regards,
Jenny

It's not a Holiday Park but a parking lot in the city by the dock.
Perfect location to explore the city (Te Papa museum is just a 10 minute walk). No kitchen. Free hot unlimited and sheltered showers (you do not freeze), toilet (you need a code to enter the showers/toilet). Can be a bit noisy but we didn't have any problems to sleep. Laundry can be made at the backpackers in front ($2 wash & $4 dry ($2 coin works as well). 2 adults & 2 children (7 & 3 years old) in a powered site. Stayed in July.

I made a booking in advance via the website.
Very handy when you arrive in Auckland Airport. Close to Manukau Shopping Centre, where there's a Countdown and you can do the shopping for your holiday. Just stayed for 1 night and didn't use the facilities. 2 adults & 2 children (7 and 3 years old). Stayed in July.

Nice campground located by a kauri forest walk.
Didn't use the facilities. If coming from the north and you don't mind driving on a gravel road you can take the first signposted turn on the left or you can go on and take the second one. We were in a large motorhome and drove on the gravel road on a rainy day. It was a bit tricky as there were road works going on but was not very difficult. 2 adults & 2 children (7 and 3 years old) in a powered site. Stayed in July.

Really nice campground with a very well equipped kitchen, free hot sheltered showers so you don't freeze when you turn the water off, laundry ($3 wash + $3 dry), playground, huge dinosaurs all around the
holiday park and great hot pool available in winter!! 2 adults & 2 children (7 & 3 years old) in a powered site. Stayed in July.
Thank you so much for staying with us. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and love seeing children enjoy our camp. We are truly trying to make this a friendly family holiday experience.

I chose Kea because it had no extra costs (gps, full insurance, kids seats....), for the diesel heater, for the location of the kids' seats (just behind the cabin and not at the rear) and for the good
comments I read. All together it makes Kea very competitive and great value for money.
We got a 6 berth (although booked a 4 berth) and we were given all the necessary explanations, even in Spanish!!!! which made it a lot easier.
The motorhome was great, very easy to drive, very comfortable, really well equipped (there's everything you need: towels, duvets, sheets, cutlery...), with plenty of space to fit all our clothes and more.
We chose the prepaid fuel option so the only thing we had to think about was to empty the waste water tank and the toilet cassette in the drop off.
I would recommend Kea to anyone who doesn't want any hidden charges and wants to enjoy a very comfortable motorhome.
