Great free spot as there are not many others in or near Akaroa.
There are spaces for 7 campervans, although they must be self-contained. It is a short walk across the car park opposite to the toilets.

Great site with excellent facilities.
Wasn't busy and was $46 for 2 on a powered site (this was in May). Also has car wash and hoover for cleaning campervans before taking them back.

This was an absolutely incredible experience.
We have travelled around New Zealand for 5 weeks and this was by far the best thing we did and we could not recommend this trip enough. Michael is a brilliant pilot who made us feel extremely safe at all times and is also extremely knowledgeable, giving us great insight and knowledge about the local area. The views from the balloon were absolutely amazing and it was incredibly quiet and peaceful up in the balloon. One of the best experiences we have ever done, if we are lucky enough to come back to New Zealand in the future a trip with Ballooning Canterbury will be top of our list of things to do again!

Brilliant freedom camping spot.
There are 5 spaces beside the road, another 3 spaces which are only for self-contained campers are on the coast opposite the convenience store. Clean public toilets are open 24 hours across the road. We were woken at 7.30am both mornings by a ranger informing us we had to be gone by 8am.

Fairly small campsite with excellent facilities.
Best bathrooms we have found with heaters and heated towel rails in each shower cubicle! Only bad thing was having to pay extra 7 dollars for wifi.
Hi Stephanie, thank you for your feedback. We are now offering up to 500mb per day for free , as we are situated in a small rural village,we do not have fibre available and additional WIFI is provided by a nationwide company and pricing is in line with their charges.

Good location, free wifi and free shovels for hot water beach.
Friendly owners are very helpful. Perhaps a little bit expensive for the facilities as only get 5 minutes for showers. Good location for hot water beach.
