Fabulous campsite, we loved it, it incorporates everything a DOC campsite is supposed to be.
Quite an adventure to get there though. Lovely neighbours, Tuis and Pukekos. Perfect beach, great waves. Facilities ok.

Breathtaking scenery, good facilities, quite crowded, absolutely worth the way downhill via gravel road.
You definitely should have a swim in the river which takes you floating to the ocean!

We liked this place very much!
Lots of space, clean toilet (2 min walk), beautiful sunset over lake Taupo, nice swim and all of this for free.

Don't stay outside the marked area for free camping, 5 campers who arrived just minutes after us got tolled and left quite unhappy the next morning.

Washing twice because everything still smelly and drying twice because everything still wet makes $10. 5 minutes walk to the dive center. No ATM around.

No view to the falls, very strict rules, walls full of signs what is forbidden and what you are supposed to do and when.
Although lots of space no choice where to park. Everything we needed was available but owners not really friendly.

Absolutely fascinating place, takes a little to get there which is so worth it.
Not too crowded in the middle of March. Fantastic bay, nice swim. All facilities good DOC standard, nice view over the ocean out of the (cold) showers.
