Lovely spot, private pitches created within a flax plantation to cut the wind down.
Quirky silo buildings house the kitchen, showers etc. No kitchen equipment to borrow, so watch out if travelling light.

While the return walk time indicated at the start is accurate, those with shorter legs may want warning of the number and height of the steps!

One viewing is not enough, there is more to be discovered. A place borne out of passion and a sense of fun.

Lovely location towards the north of the lake.
Clean toilets with loads of loo roll. Plenty of space for campervans and tents to spread out. Shame about the sandflies.

Comfortable carriages with clean windows for taking photos.
Return trip seating allowed viewing of both sides. Friendly staff, excellent quality food (best steak pie in New Zealand), shame that the audio system is not inside and outside.

This tiny camp is perfectly located for viewing the boulders if low tide is evening/early morning.
Just a short walk along the beach. Well equipped kitchen invites visitors to write messages on the kitchen walls, ceiling, appliances. Well visited and loved by global travellers.
