This is a beautiful site in the National Park so very well managed and quite strict.
Need to be self sufficient as only water and long drop toilets available. You need to book this site in advance as run by Auckland Council. I did spend half an hour on the phone sorting out the booking for that night. Long process.

Stayed here one night.
Good place for lone travellers and couples to stay. Facilities a bit old but well maintained. Big downside is traffic noise from adjacent road.

The best site I stayed at for my whole trip, a fantastic location.
Long drop toilets very well maintained. I had an AWD vehicle but be aware it is a 30 - 40 minute drive along unsealed track from that main road. Definitely worth it

Lots of permanently pitched old buses and caravans.
Off season it all looked a bit messy. $34 for 1 night also made it the most expensive campsite I have stayed at. Facilities were fair not as bad as I feared but the shower token gives more like 2 minutes than 5. Luckily I was given 3 of them.
Thank you for your review. Out of 193 campsites we have 3 buses and 53 caravans that stay on site. Most of these are weekenders. We wonder where you have been staying. In a current tariff survey undertaken by the holiday accommodation park association, we are on the average to low end of the tariff scale. We are sorry that you found it a bit messy. Our facilities are cleaned daily, so we think you must be referring to the grounds. We are a family operated holiday park, and we'verecently had an illness in our family that has demanded much of our time and attention. Our focus is back on the holiday park and we are working daily to improve the appearance.
