Great secluded camping area that allows you to stay even if you are not self contained!
If my memory serves me right tents aren't allowed but you can sleep in your car. There's a river close by where you can do dishes and there's a toilet, what else do you need? Because its a little bit remote there was no one there when we stayed in February.

Fantastic spacious area with all the facilities you need (toilets, taps with sinks, rubbish bins and there is even a solar shower).
Scenery wasn't as stunning as NZ usually is but I guess you cant drool over mountains all the time.

Nice but smallish campground with a lovely view on the bay.
Relatively cheap kayak rental close by. The place has got several taps and a toilet.

Very spacious campground with toilet and rubbish bin.
A man told us there is also running water on the westside of the road but we stayed on east and didn't check. As long as you don't park as close to the non busy road, the cars wont be a bother at all

What a joke of a campground.
You pay 18 bucks a person for a very small camping area, there's only eco rubbish, the rest you take with you. Communal kitchen/lounge was very small for this campgrounds size. The place was being run by woofers who had no clue about anything when we were there. The beach that is close is a must see though and unfortunately theres no cheap alternatives close by.
Thank you for your review. You have note advised when you attended the camp so I can't fully comment. I wonder if you went as a "casual" e.g. your didn't pre book. Pre booking ensures you get a site to fit your vehicle, a relaxing area suitable for the size of your party. If the site next to you was vacant you just need to approach staff and ask if you can used that. We charge per person not per site and many people end up with 2 sites for comfort. The camp kitchen was built according to Council rules and regulations for a 37 site camping ground.

Nice spot near the river with a bank in between the sea.
I guess the rates change everytime coz when we were there we were charged $2 each. The camp was packed when we were there and was also tricky to find. Still a nice spot with toilets and running water.

What a fantastic free spot!
There's a toilet and a tap with clean running water. You can do dishes in the creek thats next to it. There's also rubbish bins and a picnic table plus plenty of camping spots. If you like cafes be sure to checkout Wakefields Tea Room, a neat place with a really nice atmosphere. Not too far from Nelson either!
