A welcome stop after our Tongariro Northern Circuit, very informative and cosy.

Incredible i-Site, very modern, with helpful personnel.
Free WIFI and an on site free museum! Also a cafe/restaurant if you need a real break.

Was a second choice, because Green Glow Eco Adventures was not available.
Waitomo Adventures does not tailor for each group but offers a good variety of caving adventures. Professional guides (one was in training). Good that we were a small group (4, when the limit is 10).

Nice variety of thermal wonders, well maintained paths and walkways.
A bit too touristy but it is normal that lots of people would want to come. What a disappointment for the Lady Knox Geyser though! Won't spoil it for you but it took the magic out of much of our tour. I say keep it natural and unruly!

Nice views!
Be careful if your knees are fragile, this track comes up a lot of stairs. We went up and down in one day, but the hut up there seemed nice to stay in.

We were decided by the ecstatic reviews but did not know what to expect.
We spent an excellent evening with 'Bill', discovering the kauri forest at dusk and with resounding Maori songs and tales, which highlighted the grandeur of it all. Could of said more of Maori history and would benefit from social link/work with local Maori community.

Went up on the first clear day after several days of bad weather, wind was still quite strong.
Very difficult track even with experience, difficult to keep to a clear path and your hands are strongly needed as well as good fitness. Walking poles strongly recommended. Crater was covered in ice - tricky but one of the most amazing tracks yet.

Beautiful view, clean toilets (from the i-Site), and perfectly placed for an early morning start at the Taranaki tracks.
