Wonderful place.
So many lovely details, starting with the location next to the river, free kayak rides, clean bathroom & kitchen facilities and the entertainment area with snooker table. But more than anything else, the wonderful atmosphere of the place, no doubt due to the hosts' care and attention. Truly relaxing experience. Not a huge park so booking in advance probably a good idea.

The park may have its drawbacks but you can't go past the amazing location, with wonderful views of Mount Cook!
It just has an incredible feel. The park itself is busy, clientele very international. Communal kitchen and lounge are well-equipped and great meeting places. BUT the number of showers is completely inadequate for the number of visitors. When we were there, the park was half full yet by 8 am people were queuing to get into the bathrooms. Other than that, worth the money.

Excellent facilities, very well maintained and clean!
While right in the middle of town, it feels spacious. Obviously a popular choice with NZ families - it was quite busy when we stayed on a long weekend. Showers were the best we encountered in three weeks of camping.
Thank you for taking the time to review our park, we are glad we were able to meet your expectations during a busy long weekend. We are happy to hear we were able to provide a clean space to enjoy, that is so close to our boutique town. We hope you choose to stay with us again in the future.

Great location, next to an enchanting forest and river.
Access is by gravel road but we found it ok to negotiate with a medium sized campervan. Site is only small so if you're relying on staying there, arrive early! The place was fully occupied on the night we camped so it was busy but still peaceful.

Large, popular park, with loads of people packed in fairly tightly.
A bit noisy at night and some sites are a long way from facilities. However, the location next to a fantastic beach makes it well worth it.

Basic facilities but fine considering the price.
When we arrived around 6 pm we found the first camp site was full but there was a second site a bit further on which was pleasant and well maintained. Access to a river with some nice water holes.

Just WAY too crowded, set-up of the sites does not help.
Probably good if you come off season as the location is nice. Road to Picton very twisty which will slow you down esp. in a campervan; allow extra time if need to catch the ferry.

Place seemed a bit run down and not that well maintained.
Despite the pool we found this place overpriced.

Wonderful location, heaps of things to do around Nelson Lakes.
Camp ground is spacious with plenty of good sites to choose from. Sand flies are a real hassle but you can stock up on insect repellent at the Parks' shop. Showers nice and clean but only cold water.

Well organised camp ground in a nice beach-side suburb.
Had a bit of trouble finding it (sign posting not the best) and office closing time is relatively early (6 or 6.30pm). Extremely nice and tidy, quiet despite being relatively full when we visited. Great beach nearby and there are boat trips to Kapiti Island.

Seems to be a favourite with local families enjoying fishing and holidays by the beach.
Camp sites are small and there is a train line close by which had trains running during the night. Also: there where wild pigs roaming through the camp site at night ?! On the plus side: access to a river from the park, nice communal facilities for cooking and shelter. Overall enjoyable but not for those who are looking for privacy.
