Bring your own water - the only supply available here is from a lowland stream with questionable water quality.
Good flat grassy area. Limited shade. Pit toilet. If you're cycling you can wade across the stream just north of the campsite and avoid a 6km ride on a rough gravel road.

4.5/5
Lovely spot just by the lake.
No water supply so bring your own or treat the water from the lake. Sheltered sites under the trees or an open area for vehicles. Pit toilet. Last couple of kms to the campsite are on a gravel road. Lake is good for swimming in late summer.

4.5/5
New facilities, clean and pleasant to use.
Good tent sites. Reasonable price ($16 for one cyclist) and a friendly host. Great swimming hole.
South Island ▷ West Coast ▷ Westport ▷
3.5/5
Good location for a cyclist who needs access to town.
I see some reviewers say that town is dead but if your looking for party central then the West Coast probably isn't for you. Good facilities with nice undercover BBQ and eating area. Tent sites flat and grassy.

4.5/5
Really good facilities and loads of room for the many people who stay here.
$21 for a single cyclist. Close to a helicopter landing area so quite noisy during the day.
South Island ▷ West Coast ▷ Haast ▷
2.5/5
Campsite not really big enough for the amount of use it gets.
Smelly pit toilets. Tent sites not very comfortable - small and stony. You could risk camping on the grass down by the lake but be prepared to move - the lake floods. Good swimming in lake.

3.5/5
Community run campground.
Coin showers so bring $1 coins! Facilities basic but clean and tidy - no stoves in kitchen. Great location just by the beach.

5.0/5
Brilliant campsite for tents.
Limited room for vehicles. Magnificent view of Mt Hooker down the valley. Sandflies are no worse than you would expect in South Westland. Flush toilets and a cooking shelter.
South Island ▷ Wanaka Region ▷ Wanaka Township ▷
3.5/5
Dated facilities but really good value for a place like Wanaka - $18 for a single cyclist.
Tents sites seem to be a bit of an afterthought - small sites jammed in between caravans and cabins.
South Island ▷ West Coast ▷ Punakaiki ▷
3.5/5
Brilliant location, right by the beach and a short walk to the pancake rocks.
Facilities adequate. $17 for one cyclist.

4.0/5
Busy DOC campsite 9km south of Hokitika.
Flush toilets, cooking shelter and cubicles for showers - bring your own solar shower. Clean and tidy. Lake is lovely.
