Campsite 'at the end of the world' very nice spot but can be windy.
Camp is donation based so if you liked it drop a coin. Clean toilet facilities on the other side of the road and a fish n chips shop on site. Superb sunsets.

Cheap place, $15 per person for non powered and big open space for tents.
Lot of permanent residents. Old facilities shower with timer, just 4 mins hot water. Kitchen was very dirty and fridges weren't cleaned in ages, smelled like rotten fish. Hardly any cooking utilities.

One hour walk (10 mins car) from the main road.
Very, very big campground with lot of private spots. with two toilets with toilet paper and hand sanitation. Lots of sandflies :(
No water but water from stream is clean. Shelter with a fireplace and two tables. Lot of opportunities for day walks or multi day tramps.

Friendly staff and clean facilities.
But, we had to pay $21 per person for a non powered tent site which was not really a site but just cramped between the TV room and some cabins. Kitchen way too small for the amount of campers.

Very big campground with rain water tap and toilet block.
Not only self contained! Small donation box outside of the museum building, donate if you like the place. Can be windy but depends on the direction. Two BBQ fireplaces but hard to find wood. Ask i-Site lady for directions if you can't find it but it's just in the village so easy :)

Although a bit pricy ($20 pp) it's a cheap option to stay on Stewart Island.
You can use all guesthouse facilities. Huge kitchen and living room. Cold washer and dryer, coin operated. Good showers and toilets, and clean. Free luggage storage. Free Wi-Fi. You stay in their grassy garden.
