Nice at the end of the road campground, we had a small mandarin tree on our site.
You can take a swim in the riverpools, although not that clean water. Our powered site had a water tap as well. Not the cheapest place, but it was fine for the location and time of the year (January).

Just a gravel pit, but nicely located close to Frans Jozef glacier.
No special view though. Lots of non self contained when we where there, please keep this place clean!

Big campsite within 10 minutes walking from the centre of town.
Nothing special, besides the car wash maybe. The dump station is a public one, just outside the campground.

Stunning views and right at the beach.
Quite big, but still feels cosy. Nice swimming in the river a bit down the road.

Grassed parking lot, with well maintained facilities, but besides the proximity to the ferry, really not worth staying.
Especially when traveling in a self contained van. Quite expensive as well.

OK DOC campground, close to Te Anau.
The other campgrounds further up the road seemed a bit nicer though. But this one is very spacious.

Beautiful sunset, but can get windy.
Nothing there, but well worth the drive. Surroundings are lovely.

Nice spot, bit windy but plenty of space.
Lovely cafe nearby in the village for breakfast/morning tea.

Nice and sheltered, if you drive up the hill.
Situated in a beautiful forest next to the lake, short and longer walks nearby. Spent new years eve here, very quiet.

Lovely small campsite, nice owners and stylish, but a bit tiny, bathrooms.
Surrounded by trees and shrubs, with a lot of birds around. Really close to the lake. The sign is a bit tucked away, but go down the unsealed road opposite the church and you'll be pleased. Good spot to stay before or after going to Doubtful Sounds.

Nice spot to stay on the road to Queenstown, free hot showers, easy accessible dump station & fresh water.
They even grow herbs and other eatable goodies in the perks, free for you to enjoy from.

This is what makes camping in NZ great!
Honesty box, veges from the community garden. Beautiful location, lots of things to do really nearby: walks, kayaking, admire the wildlife and even kiwi spotting! Although we'd to be satisfied hearing one, standing 2 meters from it.
