The best here is the bird population, the sounds and birds you see are amazing!
The worst for us was that we were eaten by mosquitos at night! Dozens of them got inside our car, that was not nice! Basic facilities, longdrop available and water supply. There is a public (flushable) toilet but it isn't walkable if you really want to go!..
Just 6$ p.p. unpowered (January 2015)

This is a sweet park, the location is not the best (near a road and a railway) but the creek nearby is nice!
Additionally there is a big lounge area with barbecue and the toilets/showers are nice.We also had fun in the playground! The best however was the free glow-worm site they told us about, there were heaps of them and looked so magical!! I cherish that night! Cost 18 $ p.p. powered (January 2015)

Best about this DOC site was the view and the fact there is a covered eating area.
Set directly in the lakeside, it was an amazing sunset and sunrise. Longdrop toilet available and some glow-worms if you walk to the right into the woods for 5 min, with the lake in front of you.Cost 10$ p.p. unpowered (January 2015)

The toilet facilities were renovated and were brand new with nice design!
On checkin you get a magnetic key to open the door to the showers/toilets. The kitchen is also nice with magazines stack and music, near the lounge area. You can see the beach and Lion Rock from almost everywhere in the site! Ducks as neighbours was a bonus :) Cost 15$ p.p. for unpowered site. (January 2015)

Really nice park, you go to the Petrol station down the road to pay and get the keys.
The keys are one for the toilet/shower and another for the locker of power outlet. There is only one toilet and one shower available but it was enough the first time we were there (only us and another car) and the second was well (5 cars). There is also a sink with water,a dump station and a table! Cost 10$ p.p. powered and 5$ without (January 2015)

The best about this site is without a doubt its location!
The park is beautiful and there is so many animals around! We had ducks and sheep as neighbours and at time you could just gaze at the stars.. Lots of walks to be done!
Toilet and shower facilities good on the Pine area. Just 10$ p.p. unpowered, you pay the ranger.

Truth is we ended up here because all campings were full in Raglan!
But we were happy about it, we would have lost the opportunity to see this wild site, where you have no network and lots of NZers come! The road there from Raglan is full of curves and gravel. Manager is nice, kitchen and toilets clean and nice! Covered eating area.
The beach is 15 min away walking, going up and down some mounts around. Lots of fishermen and surfers in the beach. Sunset was great from the top of one of the mounts!
Cost $12.50 p.p. for unpowered site. (January 2015)

After reading all the bad reviews I was really scared to stay here!
We parked outside and slept on the car, but I used the kitchen, toilets, lounge facilities! It was ok!
The toilets were very clean, on the other side the kitchen doesn't has anything available besides pots. However the lounge with TV was nice, as well as there were lots of magazines and a piano you could play! The eating area is very big. Location is also very good, in 15min walking you are in the Te Papa area. It is true that many people live here, who look like homeless people, this doesn't mean this is a bad place to stay!
Cost 15$ p.p. to sleep in the parking area. You could also put up a tent. (January 2015)
