We were met by a very friendly staff who kept the office open for our late arrival.
Location is great next to river and beautiful beach. Why I am not giving 10 out of 10: We had to pay for showers and light were out a little past 9pm, just as we were getting ready to have a late dinner in the central dining area. But, a place that we can recommend.

We did extensive research before deciding on Wendekreisen for a campervan.
We hired a budget certified selfcontained campervan for 4 people. It was a VW, quite old, but living up to what had been promised to us. It was a proper workhorse and never let us down. Why I am not giving a higher score? Because it was quite dirty everywhere on the inside. That was not acceptable.

Great overnight place.
Get there early as there are only very few places available. Fine toilet building, but you are supposed to be self-contained although not everybody were when we were there. The view of the bay was just beautiful, and on the other side of the road there is a passage next to the surf club to a great beach. Oh, you have to be gone by 9am, not 7am.
NOTE FROM RANKERS - A traveller has been in touch after receiving a $250 fine, after reading this review and thinking that it's OK to stay here without a self contained vehicle. As mentioned, this location is for self contained campers only. Happy travels from Rankers.

Perfect spot.
We went there after a visit to Curio Bay where we watched the yellow-eyed penguins and the petrified forest. The toilets were the best, clean and there was soap to wash your hands with. Very quiet. Woke up to the sound of the tui. One of our favourite overnight spots in NZ.

We loved this spot.
Right next to a beautiful beach that invited us to go for a long walk the next morning. Toilets are fine, access to beach easy.

Great spot.
Surroundings - well, Mt. Cook and its colleagues :-) Drinking water, clean toilets, dump station. Fantastic base for hiking. We saw and heard lots of small avalanches, but fortunately far away.

Right next to the sea, nice surroundings, great location for whale watching in Kaikura.
We only heard the surf during the night, no train.

We spent a couple of days there over Christmas in a campervan.
The site we were allocated was spacious and surrounded by small trees. We had promised our youngest wi-fi for Christmas and 5 NZD paid for 24 hours. Perfect. Nice showers, laundry facilities etc. Perfect base for hikes into the Tasman park, however short or far you may choose to walk. Beautiful beaches within an hour from the campsite.

One of our rare stays at a proper holiday park with all the facilities as we needed to do laundry, charge all of our batteries etc.
Showers were great and everything very clean. Staff at reception very helpful when we wanted to book a cruise on the Milford Sound. We were placed out in the open which was not so nice, maybe because we only stayed for one night.
