This was the most stunning camping ground I've stayed at yet.
Super picturesque, a great amount of perfect places to park your car and set up camp (lots of shady spots too). The bay is very quiet and peaceful and there is a great walk that goes round to Port Jackson. If you are tossing up between Port Jackson and Stony Bay, stay at Stony Bay (unless you like fishing-I heard it was better at Port Jackson). The camp warden is also super nice and has a weather report if you're interested!

Very nice lady at reception, good showers, washing area, kitchen and lounge area.
Very spacious and close to town!

I don't understand the bad rap this place gets.
I thought it was in a beautiful location, lots of friendly people, and I think you can get a good meal from a cafe on the site. I would be happy to stay here again.

I really loved staying at this place, probably one of my favourite parks I've stayed at either in the North or South Island.
Location-wise it's perfect, right near Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove, and cute little weekend markets. The facilities were great; clean and numerous. The wifi was good, and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. The highlight for me would have to be the two managers, Gloria and Pete, who were friendly, incredibly helpful, and made my stay very enjoyable.
Hi Annabel, Will pass on your kind words to Gloria and Pete as they have now retired and moved away from the Park. Thank you so much for your fabulous review and we hope you will come back and pay us another visit some time.
Take care, from the new Managers Marlene and Rob.

While they were nice enough to give me a big discount (usually $46 a night but brought it down to $23 for me, travelling by myself) I didn't find much that I liked about this park, considering the (still
) high price. It was massive, not in a great location (I'd expect this to dictate the price), had a very small TV room considering the size of the park, and you had to pay for a shower. Pros are that the wireless is fast (you still have to pay for it) there are lots of toilets and they are clean, the staff were all very nice and polite, and the bathrooms also had hairdryers and straighteners for those interested. A fine park to stay in if you just want to re-charge over night but not a destination in itself.

This place was great.
It was in an awesome location- a super fun surf break 5 mins walk away, the people at reception were super accommodating and the facilities were good. The only reason I'm not giving them a 10 is because the showers were pretty weak and very low placed, this isn't a massive deal but it makes washing your hair after a day in the surf pretty difficult.

I loved this place!
First of all the owners and people staying at the park were all super nice and friendly, they really made you feel at home. The kitchen and the bathrooms were immaculate and very cute. I was there over the christmas holiday period and they had up heaps of great decorations and lights. There is also, I think, river access very close by, free wifi, and its nice and quiet. I would highly recommend staying here.

Super nice location, about halfway between the DOC office and the end of the road.
This site has flush toilets which are very clean and lots of shady spots to camp under. Also a smalll stream runs right by the camp so is great for a wash or to get water from. From what I heard from people who camp here often, this is the nicest camping spot of the lot.
