The place was quite busy and the welcome by the staff rather so-so.
Powered campervan sites are tightly packed together, uneven and it seemed to be a long time since grass had been growing on the patches we had on offer.
Not a place where you can expect to see anything of the great Taupo lake or anything inspiring, but well we just wanted to spend a night there.
The amenities were clean, but no all-too modern.

The best camping site we stayed in, out of the fifty we stopped at while touring NZ in our campervan.
A warm and very personal welcome, a top-notch powered spot for the van on well-cared for lawn, with direct view on the water and the many shorebirds, absolutely spotless facilities where attention to detail strikes you the moment you step in.
What a pity we could only stay for one night at the end of our NZ stay!
Don't miss Waihi Beach nearby. At low tide you can take a nice walk there.
Thank you Craig for your kind comments!
We are always glad when someone enjoys their stay and we would love to see you again sometime.
