The pitches are cramped and the whole site is crowded, but it is conveniently located near the Auckland Airport and the offices of many camper rental companies.
We chose this site after finding out that the “Campervan Park Auckland Airport” is closed (even though still listed as operating).
The equipment is well maintained and it includes a dump point (a must if one has to give back the campervan).

A quiet, nice and properly equipped small camping site.
Located within walking distance of the Kauri Museum, which is definitely worth a visit.

4.5/5
Conveniently located for boarding the ferry at Picton in the following morning, this camping site is pleasant and properly equipped.
For those interested, a walk through fields and woods leads to a small waterfall where glow-worms are said to shine in the evening. The owners are very friendly, with even a courtesy muffin on arrival.

Camping site in a beautiful setting – trees, grass and flowers.
It would deserve a high rating if it were not left in a state of neglect.

The equipment is barely basic but the location is attractive, with pitches nested between flaxes and Curio Bay within walking distance (we have seen a penguin and a couple of sea lions there)

Beautiful location and appealing panorama from the camper (we paid an additional charge of NZD 2 for a Premium pitch).
Good, clean equipment. Especially recommended for people visiting Cape Reinga.

A very large camping site, in a nice location with pitches in a regular pattern and proper equipment.
It would deserve a higher rating, were it not for a big tent that they rent for functions and parties, with ensuing music well into the night.

A very appealing camping site on the ocean, with attractive pitches right near the long, sandy beach.
Clean and well equipped. Showers need a 50 cent coin, quite likely to prevent squandering and use by bathers from the beach. Recommended

A pleasant, properly equipped camping site not far from Wellington.
The manager is very helpful (my wife had forgotten the liquid to wash the dishes and she gave us some out of her own bottle).

4.5/5
Very good value for money.
A nice camping site in open country, with good pitches and equipment. The owner is friendly and the rates are low (NZD 25 for two people in a campervan) even though the Fox glacier with its tourist appeal is not far. Recommended.

We rented a campervan for three weeks and the experience turned out to be very good.
The van was OK, clean and well maintained; the staff very helpful and efficient. Recommended.
South Island ▷ Fiordland ▷ Milford Sound - Fiordland National Park ▷
3.5/5
Milford Sound is a popular tourist attraction, so no wonder that its only camping site is more expensive for pitches that are average at best.
The equipment however is ample, with amenities such as a living room with internet desk, and the staff is very helpful. A negative remark, which causes in my opinion a lower rating: the camping is listed as having a dump point, which it doesn’t. I have been directed to a public parking lot, where however I couldn’t find it even asking in the shop.
