Location alone makes this place worth a stay.
The lake and mountain backdrop is stunning. Facilities are fairly basic and showers require $1 tokens (to be purchased from DOC visitor centre) - slightly frustrating when you arrive after it closes at 5pm, but understandable given the public access to lake / boating facilities. NB: the sandflies are everywhere. Even doused in repellent and with smoke sticks burning, we couldn't sit outside for more than a few minutes.

Very clean, modern facility.
Site was quiet for our visit so no queues for kitchen, toilets, showers, etc. Professional and helpful welcome from front desk.

Excellent value for money.
Modern, purpose-built facility with great showers (the best I've used on SI) which were very welcome after doing the Trig K walk. Arrived with intention of taking a powered site but was encouraged by visitor centre to take one of the unpowered sites which have the best spots by the river - glad I did. Beautiful setting.

Another Top 10 site consistent with high standards we've found in others.
Well-equipped and clean kitchen. Shower block recently upgraded. Nearby road / train noise noticeable but not intrusive. Handy bike hire on-site - good for checking out the local wineries.

Up to the usual high standard of Top 10 sites.
Friendly and helpful staff. Grounds and facilities kept spotlessly clean. Busy and cramped as expected for central QT location and above average cost ($52 for 2 on powered site). Inclusive wifi would be a nice touch - esp at this cost. Overall - would recommend to others.

Facilities v good - toilets and showers like those in a gym - plenty of them and clean.
Kitchen well-equipped but very busy with lots of people sitting around using wifi (free) and watching TV.

Beautiful setting.
Stunning views over beach, very quiet. Site manager, Kerri, very welcoming. Well worth turning off the beaten track to visit Gore Bay.
