Good location, easy to find.
Nice access to the lake and very nice camping sites for tents. Toilets are ok but no showers. Gets very cold at night so be prepared. A good place to stay the night before you go for a glacier walk or flight.

Very quiet (the main road is near but traffic stops early has the gates close at the slip).
Beatiful area and surroundings. Toilets are ok but no showers. There is a water tap. Nice forest walk starting in the park with access to a small river.

Good location.
Quiet at night despite beeing almost full. The toilets are OK for the price (free) and they have an outdoor shower. Perfect for an overnight stop.

Nice location close to the road but still quiet enough.
Toilets are very basic, no water taps. You can choose from shadow or sun places. Nice views on the lake. On windy days the sound from the waves on the lake can muffle every other sound (can be good or bad for you). Perfect for overnight stay before you take the road to Milford Sound.

We didn't try to find the best spot as it was getting dark, but basically every site with pines along the road along the east side of the lake is a perfect freedom camping site!
The views are amazing, the night sky is a dream.
