The campsite is owned and managed by the local community.
Facilities are basic but clean. There is a barbeque and kitchen/lounge for campers use. There are no obvious pitch boundaries so someone can come and camp right next to you but that's part of the charm of the place. Okarito is a lovely little village situated on a lagoon. Fishing , kayaking and nature tours available locally.

Spacious grassy pitches, some with shade , set around the facilities in the centre of the campground.
Very good toilets, showers, kitchen and laundry facilities. Limited wi-fi time.
Campground ideally situated for Pancake Rocks (15 minute walk away). There's also a nearby tavern which provided good meals.

The campsite is huge with lots of concrete cabins that make it look like a military camp.
The toilets and showers were ok but in need of modernization. There was only one washing machine in working order when we were there which wasn't good for a camp as big as this.
Pitches were big enough but very regimented so everyone was in straight rows.
Good location on the edge of town - and only a 10-15 minute to the excellent Paradiso cinema, which is a must to anyone visiting Wanaka.

A long (about 6 km) drive along a rough gravel track to get there but worth it.
Spacious site with no obvious boundaries. New long drop toilets with sinks! Cooking shelter. Friendly hosts.
We stayed in February and the temperature dropped to just about freezing overnight. We woke up to snow on the tops of the surrounding hills/mountains!

We came across this site almost by chance on our way from Picton to the west coast and it was great!
Very spacious shady pitch with its own firepit. The toilets, showers, kichen and laundry were very clean. There was also a hairdryer for guests' use - the only one we came across in a month of travelling around NZ!
There was a fitness track around the edge of the site and swimming hole in the river. There were even purpose built barbeque shelters.
There were a lot of signs but they were humerous.
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming.

Couldn't get to sleep until after 2am because of music n nearby bars. Would recommend parking further away at yacht club.
