Staff seem to be eager to prove they are better than their bad reviews (which is good).
Although we were given a questionable place to park our van. A non powered site seemed to be just any old place on the side of the road.
Probably a little expensive for nothing special.

Was VERY cold and VERY windy. Very basic, 1 toilet (long drop) and some rocks.

A very quiet place.
We were a young couple and this was our last camping night in NZ, we found ourselves watching TV and riding bikes. A relaxing place.
I'll be honest, there is A LOT of elderly campers. (not a bad thing... Just not suited for young people)
Don't count on food being available at the advertised cafe/restaurant next door. We went for lunch at 1:30pm and were rudely told that the chef would not open again til 4pm (weird hours). Which was unfortunate since it was a 15minute drive to find a meal at short notice.

A great location, the view is worth it.
Also the bush walk to Cathedral Cove was quite fun, The spots fill up quickly.
Like most of the freedom camping, the facilities are a bit smelly and dark,

The best idea we had!
We had an awesome time in our van with no mechanical issues at all. We traveled the entire north island and spent every night in the van.
It was astoundingly well priced and really great customer service. Very helpful too, letting you in on some great travel tips and answering any weird questions we had.
Pretty cool to be part of the spaceship community on the road too

We ended up here late in the night, so didn't get to enjoy it too much in the daylight hours.
But a very peaceful location and not nearly as cold as I thought.

I don't know how to express in words how absolutely amazing this place was!
The pools are astounding, the campgrounds are in one of the most beautiful places in the country.
The value for money is amazing. Don't forget to walk up the boiling creek! My favorite night in NZ!!

They had a fun games room and friendly cats (some pesky ducks).
