Again, not sure if you mean NZ is expensive or Escape...we are pretty ruthless in checking our rates against our competitors and ensuring we are offering the best price.

With buying a van..do remember that you wont get a van of the same age or condition as we offer, you'll get something that's probably 20-30yrs old for the same kind of price. You don't have roadside assistance/breakdown cover unless you purchase it (or insurance too for that matter). You'll need to stock up on things that we supply in the vans as our standard..etc etc. Plus at the end of your trip you then have to try to sell it, along with the many hundreds of other backpackers doing the same thing! Its not an easy market, there are many old backpacker vans still unsold online after the last peak season..
