This is by far and a way the campsite to stop at in Wanaka.
If you want a site near town this is the one. But hard to find but right on lake and the powered sites have the best views, just breath taking of mountains and lake.
The site has mountain bikes to rent, we had our own which meant we could bike the lake side walk to town, 7 km of view after view. You can also bike the other way down the river, also fun and a great walk too .
Quality site, good facilities. Big but not a holiday park, just friendly family place.
Would recommend to anyone

Quite a long drive out to the lagoon so we were pleased not to be disappointed.
A great feel to the little town. Weather not great but the clouds parted briefly to give us a birds eye view of Mount Cook from the ocean, fabulous.
Camp ground hidden from sea views which was a shame but may be good in winds. Toilets etc a little basic for the price charged. Quaint place and definitely best option in area.

Wasn't sure what to expect as variable ratings.
We liked it. Site is actually half way down lake, wrongly sited on this APP .
Powered sites all beautifully spread out, and could pick anywhere we wanted to go. Nice wooded shade to sites. A fantastic barbecue area for cooking which we normally don't use but friendly set of people and the views were awesome from there of Mount Cook. They also had a grassy mound nearby for photographers to set up sunsets, nice touch. Inside kitchen area also looked good if that's what you want.
Showers and toiler areas all excellent. Did not have lots of extra facilities but we weren't looking for that.
Very comfortable and quiet site and change from freedom camping night before.
Highly recommend it.

This campsite doesn't look great from the entrance area but go in....
Good toilet blocks, barbecue areas etc. powered sites have a nice outlook to the beginning of the Abel Tasman trek and out to sea. Much nicer campsite than the ones closer in to town. Staff a bit variable, one guy was delightful and the other very surly.
We only stayed one night but would have been happy to stay longer if time had permitted. Some very nice cabins available too.

We surprised ourselves by really liking this site as we don't normally do large campsites.
The campervan spots are excellent, tiered up and all with lake views. All facilities were excellent. We cycled in to town and could walk it so useful.
Best place in Te Anau itself and a good price for very high quality facilities.

Nice spot but it was raining so views not appreciated.
A bit of a long way out of town. Very basic facilities so as a stop over works. Felt quite busy as limited options in Queenstown itself.

Great spot by the sea with direct access to gorgeous scenic beach.
Surrounded by crayfish errand even given a free one by neighbours.
Sites a bit too crowded and on top of each other. Facilities were good. Bit close to road and traffic and train noise.
However, rather quaint and we liked it.

Our favourite camp spot of our trip.
Gorgeous view over Sound. The perfect swim from jetty in front of the campsite.
Not big, perhaps enough space for 20 campers but takes a bit of effort to get to it so wasn't full. Good toilet facilities , very clean and water. Whole site in centre of village and just looks like the village green! Fabulous view, what more do you need?
We loved it!

Agree with all other reviews by one thing.
We were there on a Saturday night and unfortunately locals spend the weekend there using jets kids and motor boats on the lake until well in to the evening and early morning. Constant roar of engines thoroughly spoilt what is a gorgeous spot. Avoid weekend overnight and you will have a great time!
Also, beware of road as 22km on gravel !

Largest site we stayed at.
Despite that, not noisy or especially cramped. Very well sited camper van powered sites, tiered with at least partial views of lake.
Seemed expensive to have to pay for showered but as unisex we could use one shower token between us! Good facilities where we were, nice and new.
We cycled in to town but nothing there but Japanese! Position by lake to swim and sunbath very nice if quite commercialized.
Much better than rather strange freedom camping sites further up lake we decided against.

Nice stopover.
Very good facilities, great shower area. All sites perfectly kept and nice space between. Bit of road noise but if non powered you can get away from this.
Gorgeous river setting, nice swim,
Very friendly. Good stopover.
We have opened up the River Paddock along the Buller River which is very quiet. We have also installed caravan plugs near the cabins away from the road. Thank you for your feedback.

Our last camp night and very disappointing.
Powered sites in very bad position, hosts seem to think location to toilets is what you want, not views!
Nice newish hosts, very friendly but need to attend to a few things. Seem to have a lot of long term caravans there.
Toilets and showers very clean and fresh, although swimming pool was really dirty and covered in dead flies.
Walk to river marked on map but after you go through woods No further signs , need to sort that out. Went passed gorgeous camp area in woods with powered sites , but we were told there was only the area we were sent to , rather strange?
Felt a bit tired and needing some TLC
We were very disappointed to receive this review. We have worked long hours, and really hard, to maintain a high standard here, and with so many positive comments and reviews we thought we were succeeding . As new owners we "are attending to a few things" but these can only be done as time, budgeting and weather conditions allow. The camp itself is more than 60 years old, so the powered sites are where they have been all that time, individually hedged and private. Some things we can't change. The swimming pool is filtered every night, and vacuumed every morning. By the end of the day of course there is always some "stuff" in the water, but covered in dead flies. ??????? If we are not working to capacity with our powered site our guests are always given an option as to where they want to go, perhaps this was misunderstood. In a whole year this is the first time we have learned of people being unable to find their way to the river. We are sorry if your experience wasn't what you expected.

Camp spot really easy to find as just past visitor centre and we could see some campervans there already.
Plenty of room for everybody to have views and not be on top of each other. Had a a barbecue and soaked up the atmosphere and the views, awesome! This was why we had freedom camper van!
Basic toilet in woods, not great! Went to visitor centre in morning as suggested on Rankers.
