Great place for a MTB ride with lots of tracks criss crossing a compact area, suitable for kids, yet great XC fun for more experienced riders.
Fenced off dog exercise area among the pine trees. Also great for a walk or just relax by the lake. There is a permanent orienteering course here (http://papo.org.nz/permanent-courses for info and maps) to make the day out even more enjoyable, and the easy course are suitable for anyone to have a go. Toilet at car park is newish and clean.

Obviously a new toilet since last reviewer visited.
clean and shiny. Water available from a couple of taps (no signage) along the road frontage. Good spot for an over night stop. We came inland to get out of cold southerly wind and found this very sheltered at the time.

Stumbled on this site when buying a coffee at the cafe.
Right on the harbour edge, Dangerously close to the Whiskey Distillery and the heart of old Oamaru. Could hear the penguins coming ashore at night. Next door a great kids playground. Friendly helpfull staff.
Site is new and being improved - as such facities where basic but clean and functional (portacom unisex shower/toilet block). Free Wifi. Reasonable rates.
Highly recommend it as a place to base yourself while exploring the town, which is easy walking distance.

Lovely quite spot, very sheltered from wind (went here as gale force winds out on coast and not a breath of wind).
Typical Basic DOC camp ground with pleanty of space. Toilets clean with basic shelter for cooking. Grounds were very wet and slippery when we were there.
