We loved it there - absolutely beautiful and very quiet.
Toilets were basic, but clean. There is a fine bridge/gangway that goes out in the river. As there is a big difference between high and low tide, the bridge is covered in oysters.

When eventually we made it to the parking lot where we could stay with our camper for the night, it was a great spot looking out at the sea, but - it was soooo complicated to book ahead and to pay as we
had to do it on the phone while driving, and when we got there, we had problems getting the code that would let us pass into the area. And - all this done we still had a visit from a guard late at night who wanted to know whether we had permission to be there. He was an Indian guy studying in New Zealand, very talkative and nice enough, but still - we had two children with us and they were quite uncomfortable about the situation.

Slab Hut Creek was a lovely spot.
We were a bit hesitant about going there as we had read other reviews saying that sandflies was a major problem there, and having just spent a night at Bruce Bay, sandflies was a no go for us. As it turned out, there were hardly any sandflies, but a very lovely and quiet campsite with a number of very curious wekas that were almost jumping into our camper :-) Toilets were fine.
