When we arrived at the lodge Gloria, the owner of the lodge, was very friendly and explained us where we could see penguins.
And she told us that we can use the lodge facilities, not only the showers and toilets but also the kitchen and the living room. We had free wifi and enjoyed the night at the nice site.
The price was one of the cheapest we paid and the location is awesome.

Really beautiful campground at an awesome lake...it would be good to update the Rankers App because in the App it seems that there are two ways leading to the campground but it is only one, the other one
is only for pedestrians.

Small sites and not many showers and toilets but fair price because you can go to the hot pools as often and as long as you want during your stay.

If you were here to see the glowworms you do not need to drive to Waitomo :-)

Nice campground, really friendly woman at the reception, huge sites.
It was the nearest campground to the i-site in Matamata (<10 minutes drive) where we start the Hobbiton Tour.

Locations is extremely beautiful and the sites are surrounded by huge plants so that the wind cannot catch you.
The toilets and showers could be renovated, honestly.
The way to the penguins is just about 5 minutes to walk and you have a good chance to see them there.
In the bay you could see dolphins and you have a great view over the ocean.

Location os campground is awesome, very friendly and helpful staff.
From the camper we could view the bay of the Tasman Sea.
All facilities were clean and tidy. Besides a BBQ corner there was a huge kitchen and possibilities to hang around and enjoy the stay. We stayed two nights.

It is a really nice campground with sites of good size.
Hot showers, everything is really clean. Location of campground is beautiful. You can do a 3 hours walk to the observatory and back at the lake front. At night you can see the milky way.

At this place we met the most friendly people of the holiday.
They were very helpful and patient because we had a lot of questions about the crossing.
We booked the transfer to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing which was well-organized.
Due to very good weather we did a part of the crossing twice and extended our stay there without any problems.
We ate in the restaurant, very delicious!
The showers and toilets have to be renovated, compared to other campgrounds they were used up.

Fair price for the transport.
We got a lot of information about the Tongariro Alpine Crossing regarding fitness, safety, clothing etc. to decide if we want to do the crossing. If you decide not to do the crossing at the starting point (after the first transfer) you get your money back, which is really fair.

Very nice place at the beach, where you can see beautiful sunsets.
It is a huge park with good and clean facilities. It is near to the city.
