I went to Kapiti Island for a literary event.We had a guided tour,a lunch and two speakers.My tour guide Janine showed us how to make a whistle out of a plant to call birds and she also showed us the location

of some kiwi burrows.My group had a coastal walk -we were shown where seabirds nest and we were also shown the lagoon from a vantage point.We were also shown wood pigeons roosting in trees behind the lodge at the north end of the island and we were introduced to some tame takahe around the lodge.
