An exposed but unique place to free camp for the night.
We awoke the next morning to find a seal sleeping close to the back of our vans. Our kids thought it was a real adventure. It is also very close to the seal waterfall walk, which was helpful as we could get there before the crowds and buses arrived.

A unusual site close to the centre of town.
It was a great spot to park for the night as we were able to walk to our evening’s activity. The amenities were clean and the staff friendly. Overall a handy spot.

A nice place just out of town.
Staff were friendly and the powered sites grassy and large. Our kids really enjoyed the playground and we made good use of the camp kitchen. Reasonably priced for our family.

We stayed one night in April with another family on one of their powered sites.
The rainforest surrounds were lovely and there were good things to keep the children occupied. We did find the site a bit expensive but that was to be expected given the location.

Although the amenities are new and the activities for kids varied, we were completely shocked by the price of a powered site for our young family of 5 (2 Adults, a 5yr old, a 3yr old and a 9 month old
). The rate for one night was $82, the most expensive place we stayed during our 3 week trip of New Zealand.

This park is located very close to the historic precinct.
It is also right next to a wonderful playground which our children enjoyed. The amenities were clean and the camp kitchen/dining space was a good place to be. It is just like a carpark but that is all we needed for the night.

A lovely peaceful place to camp.
The views were lovely next to the lake. Nice spot just out of town. Handy for us on the way between Dunedin and Cromwell.

This site has wonderful views in every direction.
Nice and close to the blue pools walk. Unfortunately the toilets were not that nice but the views make up for it.

Handy location on the peninsula.
Sites spacious and grassy however there was not much for the kids to do. The staff were friendly, as was the free hour of wireless internet. Laundry was well equipped and machines worked well.

We visited in April and were 1 of 4 families travelling the south Island together.
The location of this campsite is superb and the staff were very helpful. We stayed four nights in a powered campervan site and were able to walk to everything that we needed. The amenities were wonderfully new and clean. Kids enjoyed the playground and the family bathroom was quite helpful. The only negative was the close proximity of the campsites to each other. Overall a great stay though.

A wonderful place, not too far from Lake Tekapo, to free camp under the stars.
Just pulled up next to the river and didn't see any other people the whole time we were there. The sunrise was spectacular.

We stayed on one of the Harbourview powered sites which had superb views. The amenities were clean and showers nice and hot. The camp kitchen was quite convenient being located next to a great children’s playground. The steep stepped walk to town was quite handy and our kids managed the walk back up the hill at the end of the day. We would stay here again.

This campsite has wonderful views of the amazing mountains.
The amenities were clean but would benefit from lights on at night. A great base to explore the region.
