Great location, we were able to secure the last campsite overlooking lake and close to toilet block etc.
Was probably the most expensive and extra $$ for showers is a bit ridiculous - should just be included in price. Was also quite busy, but being the only holiday park in town is expected.
Easy walk to hot springs and also some nice walks along the lake.

This campground was closed when we arrived, however as it was late and we had already paid at a prior campground which was full, we had no choice but to stay here and it was probably the best place we
stayed in as we pretty much had it all to ourselves! Luckily there was a few little tucked away spots to park the van, and we were within reach of the public pit toilet. Nice spot to stop if on way to Milford Sound, as only about an hour's drive and can make an early morning cruise and miss the tourist rush!

Very hard to find, we ended up driving around for a fair while and in the end after turning down some roads off the main drag we found an opening to the river - people had been camping there before us
judging by the human waste around!
Lots of sandflies and mozzies so remember to keep doors closed, we had a buzzing roof all night!!!
Was still good to get away from the crowds and fish along the river.

This was by far our favourite holiday park in NZ!
Super friendly host, great location and good price. Across the road from the river if you are a keen fisherman.
You also have your very own private ensuite attached to each campsite, which was fantastic! Very clean and beautiful park with lots of trees for privacy. 10/10

This was one of the best parks we visited in NZ!
Very spacious campsites with nice view of lake and good price. Nice and clean toilets/showers.
We loved staying here!! Mike the owner was a hoot and was very helpful !
Wow! We love your review. Thank you for your comments. We are biased but think Lake Camp, Hawea is one of the best too!

This was our first night in NZ and was a good stop over.
Nice campsites and not too close together, clean facilities and not too expensive. Very helpful owners!
Thank you for taking the time to review our park Monique. We are glad our spacious park suited your needs, and you had a friendly experience which is what we pride ourselves on. We hope you choose to stay with us again in the future.

Overcrowded park and very tight spots - we were right up next to all the bins, luckily we were in a smaller van otherwise would be very hard to squeeze in.
Upside was that there was a toilet block opposite, and also two single toilet/shower ensuites.
Good location to town, only a 5-10 minute walk.

Nice new park, good spots and nice planting of trees/shrubs which in a few years will really give some privacy to camp spots.
Good location to river, there is a nice swimming hole towards the back of the property.
Really nice amenties and for a very good price.

Nice bush retreat, although powered sites were a bit close together for our liking, although it seems to be that way everywhere in NZ!
Despite the eco-toilets (not my preference) they do spruce them up with a bit of quirkiness which I liked, but there is no light so come handy with a torch!
Unfortunately we had some rude people turn up late at night and their outdoor porch light was glaring into our van all night, so we really quite sick of inconsiderate campers being at the end of our trip!
Hi Monique,
Thanks for your review of the Little River Campground. We appreciate your time and honesty and are always trying to improve our facilities. We have just opened our new waterless Composting toilets, which are a vast improvement since you were here. As you know, we're a back to basics camp, not so much the standard camp we are listed under the rankers profile. If we are busy (which isn't very often), the sites are small and I can understand your frustration of someones light being on all night. (some people have no idea). All the best with your future travels. Marcus (owner).

We stayed here for one night on the way back from Milford Sound to Lake Wanaka.
It was a nice stop over and away from the crowds... although it did get quite a few vans drop in once evening arrived.
Does need some trees though as you are just parked in the middle of a paddock.
Owner does farm tours at night and there are fresh eggs to purchase and local alpacas grazing in nearby paddocks.
