Once again after 2 years: Nice site on the beach with spotless modern facilities, very welcoming management.
Beautiful views, sunrises, sunsets and walks along the beach – perfect for happy starting or sad finishing point for the holidays, despite main road with lots of traffic next to it.

Nice location with river and beach in short distance.
However, as there are mainly permanent camp sites, and in between small sites for campers with no "breathing" space, it made me feel quite claustrophobic and not really in the right place.
Amenities ok, clean.

Good location and nice park like setting, amenities clean.
Some sites have a little privacy with hedges, others are quite small and narrow. Short walk to hot water beach.
Some dogs (belong to the park?) running around and "marking" the place not so nice...

Friendly welcome. Amenities ok. Camping ground is the only one near town, therefore convenient.

Very beautiful location on seaside with small grassy sites.
Very friendly hosts. Amenities good, kitchen ancient, but ok. The old kitchen/rooms block is a bit of a sore sight - just turn your eyes on the bay!
Hi
Thanks for your review and comments re the beauty of the location. We agree it is a lovely spot to stay. I see you visited our Holiday Park some time ago. My husband and I are new owners having been here almost 5 mths.
We quite agree that the cabins/kitchen are badly in need of some renovation. This is on our 'to do' list and will be started on next year. We have been working on tidying up the grounds and increasing the attractiveness of the place. The best part, the waterfront sites and motels cannot be seen from the road, so unfortunately it is really the back of the property that is first observed. If you ever get the opportunity to visit Kawhia again, please do drop in and see the difference. Cheers, Carolyn.

My contact to Wendekreisen had started well before my actual travelling, and the communication was always very prompt, friendly and constructive.
After much of comparison with countless companies and numerous requests for quotations, I chose Wendekreisen because of their most competitive offer, best service for value, and last but not least the good reviews they had received. And I have chosen well!
I had a van, the slightly newer version of the Toyota Hiace (age stated >2002-3) for about 10 weeks and travelled both South and North Islands with the same vehicle, pick up CHC, drop at AKL.
Although travelling alone, I had chosen a 3-Berth, just for the comfort of the high top and more space, freedom camping registration and power outlet. Which was worth it, every mentioned point! I had used a low-top budget van for a few weeks some years back, which was ok, but obviously less comfortable for a long period.
Irt was a great experience, very good value for money, very good service, no problems!

Most amazing clearest water reservoir/spring.
Nice easy short walk with breathtaking water. Newly made tracks, unfortunately yet without information along the track and at the main water viewin point. Take polarised sunglasses as they take the glare out of the water and you can see much more and better - awesome, really.

Beautiful setting in wide grassy grounds (can be very boggy aftre rain) with trees.
Walk through the meadows with calfs and horses to the beach. Amenities are simple, but ok. Very welcoming and friendly manager/owner. Must be great for kids with piglets running around and cheering everyone up.
A few cabins and permanent caravans look shattered and worn, not so nice.

Beautifully located attractive site at the end of the raod (seemingly), with wonderful tracks and the spectacular beach nearby.Facilities are basic, and yes, a bit expensive.
Managed somehow by a group of young girls work -on holiday-makers. Cleanliness and tidiness could surely be optimised a bit. Worst deficiency is noise from the Backpackers' house and coffee van nearby. Otherwise is could have been paradise.

Huge park with good amenities (spacious showers!), number code for entering and leaving the park.
Quite noisy from near highway until lte and from early morning. Playground can probably be very noisy as well, but in April there were few guests.
My poor ranking is for the unfriendly staffs, at reception and manager (?). No greetings, no friendly word, all just acting not as they should in hospitality services. Despite having few customers, these few were allocated sites next to each other, which was unnecessary. On request changes were made. Very long fussy registration procedure, made me feeling as if applying for a bank loan or s.th. This has happened for the first time in 2 months of travelling the country.
Thank you for your feedback. Our registration process is reasonably standard with accommodation providers in New Zealand so I am sorry you felt this way. We take pride in our customer service so I am sorry to hear that you did not feel you received the standard of service we constantly provide.

Ok for a town site.
Spent two nights.
Facilities clean and sufficient, however: why and for whom do they have blasting music from 7 to 9:30 at night? This is quite annoying if you stay close to facilities (e.g. because of bad weather).
Town in easy reach.
Hi Brita, thank you for taking the time to review our park. We like to place people close to the facilities in bad weather, but if you prefer a quieter site we can definitely accommodate you further away from the facilities next time. Our music that plays in the bathroom area is to give people a bit of a distraction of noise while using the bathroom area, and we hope this explains our use of great radio music. Kind Regards.

Fantastic location and surroundings with awesome views, sunrises and sunsets, park-like environment with some small "wild" life around.
I spent three happy nights here. The drives to Mt. Cook, Hooker valley etc. are beautiful, so no real hussle to go into for me, also nice walks around the park. Staff very friendly and most welcoming.
The information on haves and not haves (i.e. dump station) of the park is easily accessible through the internet or maps beforehand, so complaints should consider that.
The downsites are the facilities: frequent noise from helis during the day; run-down kitchen with non-functioning stuff stacked everywhere, and worst of all only three showers and toilets for ladies, all very small and old. I was lucky that not many people were around, I do not want to imagine the site at high season. The unlit walkways have the positive effect of wonderful starlight, however it is not so comfartable to reach the facilities or as mentioned by s.o. back to your camper or tent.

Thanks Brita, for your 'nice' comments. People seem to forget they are on holiday. This is not Chef Ramsey!
We don't mind constructive comments, but price is not one of them. Everyone seems to moan about price?
I wish all the thousands of people that stay here and love it, would take the time to say so. It seems that only those with a grizzle take the time to be mean to us? We are trying to do the best we can and love it when people tell us so and appreciate our long hours and all the effort the team puts in on their behalf. Kudos to you Brita....

Beautiful, small, clean.
A wonderfully located (beach) very small - and that also means small sites, nothing for big motorhomes - and exceptionally spotless place, run by a very nice chap. It is the cosiest and most home-feeling place I have so far experienced, with a little veggie garden from which you are invited to pick. The amenities are very, very well maintained and equipped. It is truly a newHAVEN, and one can only hope that all guests appreciate it and help keeping it as it is.
Hi Brita, Thank you for your great review, we are pleased you enjoyed the beach and feeling at home here.

what a treasure!
Most beautiful location in a seemingly very remote and awesome peaceful and quiet surrounding. Views are fantastic, and the host lady welcoming. Amenities good, host lady very friendly and welcoming. Only drawback is that the whole camping ground is very dusty, no grass, and customers really must be considerate of each other when driving (and they should be made aware at arrival!), which unfortunately in some cases they are not. Bit challenging to find the facilities at night when you are at the top level as there is no light and access via a steep narrow path.Good walking tracks around.

Doubtful Sound tour from TeAnau: VERY nice, well organised and very nice staff/guides througout.
Pickup at holiday park by bus to Manapouri (30 min), boat across lake Manapouri (1 hr), bus via Homer Pass and power station (very interesting), then 3 hrs boat on Doubtful Sound. A day trip to remember!
Awesome! Thank you for your feedback :)
